Summary
The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property maintenance and engineering operations to ensure the hotel remains safe, functional, and visually appealing. This leadership role combines technical expertise with strategic planning and team management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and perform maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Team Leadership: Manage engineering staff, schedule shifts, assign tasks, and provide training.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including fire safety and environmental standards.
• Budget Management: Monitor maintenance budgets, control costs, and coordinate with vendors for repairs and supplies.
• Guest Satisfaction: Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and ensure minimal disruption to their experience.
• Project Coordination: Lead renovation and upgrade projects, liaising with contractors and hotel management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role is responsible for overseeing all maintenance staff including Maintenance Workers and Maintenance Supervisors. Responsible for developing maintenance staff by providing supervision, training, guidance, and encouraging professional development.

Education and/or Experience
Degree or certification in engineering, facilities management, or related field.
5+ years of experience in hotel or commercial property maintenance.
Proficiency in maintenance software and tools
Previous experience in management of maintenance/engineering specific to electrical, plumbing, HVAC system, ventilation system and carpentry.
